Gretchen's Lock is allegedly haunted by the young girl Gretchen who became very ill and died.  She was entombed in the Lock untill her father planned on burrying her back in Ireland.  However,  as they made their voyage back the ship sunk in a storm and the entire family is killed.  It is said that she wanders the lock to this day.
