Mudhouse Mansion
Mudhouse Mansion is naed for the road it is on, which in turn was named for the first brick-and-mortar building in the area.  There are several legends as to why this abandoned house is allegedly haunted, but the most believeable is that of a government official who lived there post-civil war and had slaves residing in the house adjacent to the mansion.  One night, the slaves escaped the slave house and entered the mansion where they slaughtered the entire family.
This is Mudhouse Mansion about 5 miles outside of Lancaster.  We almost missed it when the driver happened to look over to his left and spotted the house.  It sticks out there  almost like it doesn't belong on the landscape with the farmhouses  around it.  We turned around and snapped this picture.  As we drove up to the gated drive, there was a no trespassing sign.  So, we took a few pictures and sprinted back.  I don't feel we broke the law as we were there for about a minute only.  But if anyone disagrees, we meant no harm.
This picture gives an idea of the distance between the slave's house and the mansion.
